Headwaters Magazine is a student-run publication at the University of Vermont. We strive to provide a space for students to share their perspectives on environmental issues through writing and art. With written content ranging from investigative journalism to poetry to personal narratives and visual media spanning style and medium, our goal is to be a source of accessible science communication at UVM and in the broader community.

At Headwaters Magazine, we believe that art and environmentalism are two sides of the same coin. Each of our issues has explored a unique theme that arises organically from the array of stories, articles, and artwork that we publish, but every single Headwaters piece is a result of using the written word and other media to explore the natural world and convey its wonder as well as its peril. Since 2015, we have been in the business of uplifting creative expression, high-quality journalism, and student voices to the end of educating and inspiring readers. Holding a Headwaters Magazine is like holding a precious compilation of the hopes, dreams, and passions of young environmentalists.

We hope you enjoy perusing our new and improved website. If you feel particularly inspired by an article, leave a comment; if you feel like you have a lot more to say, consider submitting a pitch! We are growing as an organization and welcome ideas from all.
